The short version
StepTrue collects nothing, shares nothing, and shows no ads. The app does not connect to the internet at all — it requests no internet permission, so data sharing is not merely against policy; it is technically impossible.
What the app stores — and where
Your step record (steps and active minutes per day), your settings (daily goal, step length, body weight used by the calorie estimate, display choices), and the counting state the app needs to reconcile with your phone's step sensor are stored only on your device, in the app's own local storage. None of it is sent to B3N Digital or to anyone else. We run no servers for this app and receive no copy of your data.
If you delete the app, or clear the app's storage, that data is gone — it exists nowhere else. You can also export your record to a CSV file at any time, free, and that file is yours to keep wherever you like.
What we collect
Nothing. StepTrue does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. The app contains:
- No ads and no advertising SDKs
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No account and no sign-up — the app never asks who you are
- No internet access — the app requests no internet permission
- No third-party data sharing of any kind, ever
The permissions, one by one
Physical activity — Android requires this before any app may read the phone's built-in step sensor. It is used for counting, and nothing else.
Notifications — used only for the small ongoing note that shows StepTrue is counting. The app posts no other notifications.
Run after restart — lets counting resume by itself after the phone reboots.
Foreground service (health) — the Android mechanism that lets the counting listener keep running. Its status note is always visible while it runs, and you can stop it by force-stopping the app.
What StepTrue is — and is not
StepTrue is a counter and a log. It reads your phone's step sensor and does simple arithmetic on the readings. Distance and calories shown in the app are estimates worked out from your step count and the calibration settings you choose; they are not medical measurements, and the app makes no health claims. Active time is likewise an estimate of the minutes in which the counter saw movement.
Purchases
StepTrue may offer optional purchases in a future version. All purchases are processed by Google Play under Google's own payment terms and privacy policy. B3N Digital never sees or stores your payment details.
Children
Because StepTrue collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. The core promise — your steps stay on your device — is a design principle of the app, not a marketing line.
